Fire Equipment Safety Signs

Each item of Fire Fighting equipment should be marked with the appropriate symbol.

• Where various types of equipment are stored at one location, ‘Fire Point’ signs may be used. • When equipment is stored in a recess or cupboard, a panoramic sign, mounted well above head height, should be used to enable the equipment to be identified from a distance.

• All lift and elevator entrances should be marked with signs warning that they are not to be used in the event of fire.

• All signs shown are guaranteed to comply with BS 5499-1, BS 5499 – and The Health & Safety (Safety Signs & Signals) Regulations 1996.

Fire Alarms and Points

The managment of health & safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires the names of Fire Marshals to be displayed.
