The touch-free approach

Due to the increase of infections, such as MRSA and the Swine Flu outbreak, hand washing has never been more important. The Autosensor hand wash unit from Redring utilises a clever no-touch technology making it the perfect hand wash solution for high-risk areas, such as hospitals and kitchens. The flow of water from the hand

wash unit is activated via an infrared sensor, making it not only hygienic but also economic to run. The temperature can be preset with the use of a coin- operated lever, which also controls whether the unit is switched on or off. Kevin Tolson, Redring Showers, comments: “We initially designed the Redring Autosensor to combat the issue of cross- contamination in food preparation areas. However, the benefits of the innovative touch free hand wash technology are clearly transferable and since the outbreak of swine flu and the ongoing battle with MRSA we have seen a huge increase in demand for the unit from specifiers who are looking for a hygienic solution.” The Autosensor is BEAB approved and is backed by a manufacturers guarantee.

Extending the options

Potterton Commercial’s trusted Eurocondense range has been completely

transformed,

resulting in the launch of the brand new Eurocondense three. This high efficiency floor standing condensing boiler incorporates many of the impressive elements used in the highly successful Eurocondense two range, with a number of marked changes that further improve efficiency, siting options and ease of installation. Aesthetically, Eurocondense three is smaller and lighter with a reduced footprint, making it suitable for most plant rooms, even those with space limitations. The internal layout has been completely redesigned to accommodate a sectional heat exchanger and a single burner assembly that slides out for ease of servicing. Hydraulic electrical and flue connections are now top mounted,

making the appliance easier to install and minimising the amount of space required for working access. This design also allows the boiler to be compatible with a wider range of accessories such as pipework header kits, a variety of flue kits and there is a room- sealed option. In addition, Eurocondense three is one of the best performing commercial boilers on the market in terms of low noise.

A new solution

TLV Euro Engineering has launched HeatPack, a range of packaged heat exchangers with capacities from 120kW to 2,350kW. They are designed to supply temperature controlled hot water for clean in place, low temperature hot water and domestic hot water applications. HeatPack, which is designed to be extremely

flexible, is available with a choice of two stainless steel heat exchangers to suit a variety of site conditions, specifications and system requirements. Both plate and tubular heat exchangers offer an instantaneous response to load fluctuations. Additionally, the tubular design can be used with higher steam pressures to eliminate the need for pressure reduction, even with high flow rates. Other benefits of its flexible design means that HeatPack can be specified with pneumatic or electric valve actuation and a choice of component materials including cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel or SG iron. The frame-mounted, ready-to-install package also significantly reduces the floor space required, and onsite installation time. Additional standard features include independent high-limit cut

out; safety valve protection; bellow-sealed isolation valves; and depending on the process and plant conditions, a condensate removal system based on TLV’s free-float steam trap or PowerTrap pump.

Merlin expands rental fleet

Merlin Power Management has expanded its rental fleet capabilities with the introduction of large generators, up to 2MVA, for deployment throughout the UK. A leading provider of power support services, Merlin arranges rapid deployment of these large generators together with its range of peripheral services that include cabling, fuel systems, fuel management and technical and 24/7 on site engineering support. These standby power

systems can also be supplied and installed in parallel to cater for larger power requirements and to increase flexibility in the event of sudden power disturbances. Generators ranging from 80kVA to the 2MVA have been strategically positioned around the UK so that Merlin can rapidly deploy the sets and accessories to site within a four-hour window of receiving the emergency call. In addition, the company has also expanded its services to

provide these generators and power critical services for companies who require standby power during a planned shutdown. These include the decommissioning and re-commissioning of existing equipment, all ancillary electrical work as well as the supply of a temporary standby generator and on site engineering support.

The new dawn in solar power

SOLYNDRA Solar is the new photovoltaic system that is set to change the way we harvest the sun’s energy. Delivering the highest electrical output at the lowest cost, the system, available from ICB, has reinvented the wheel by replacing traditional rectangular panels with lightweight grilles. Designed for use on flat or low sloped rooftops, SOLYNDRA

Solar is a set of energy conversion efficient copper indium gallide tubes mounted on frames. Each frame is able to capture the power of direct sunlight and also diffused and reflected light on the bottoms and sides of the tubes. Output can be increased by 20% when SOLYNDRA Solar is used with a white EVALON single ply membrane, which reflects available sunlight back onto the panels. As the modules do not need to be inclined, they cast little shade.

This means that, unlike conventional flat panels, they can be arranged next to each other, allowing for the energy harvesting potential of rooftops to be maximised. The grille design also allows air to pass through the system, keeping it cool.

RIDI calls the tune

RIDI has broadened its office range with the introduction of the stylish new TUNE-LED desk lamp. Touch sensitive controls for switching and dimming are discretely housed within the lamp’s base. The head unit, combined with adjustable arms for height and direction, uses the very latest high output Cree LEDs to deliver a sleek and effective personal lighting package. Precise, crisp, direct lighting with TUNE is matched with maximum longevity. Within its directional gimbal head are six 1.2w LEDs, providing a 450 lumen, 3500k colour output, with a lifespan rating of 50,000 hours. The LEDs are mounted behind a specially designed lens arrangement which controls and disperses the LED source. Until now, RIDI luminaires and

control systems have been mainly marketed through specification. Offering access both to the public and individual office facilities manager, TUNE opens up the RIDI range of energy-efficient commercial lighting products to the retail market, as Managing Director, Mike Attard explains: “It’s not just those large-scale projects that demand optimum lighting conditions. TUNE brings energy efficient, adjustable LED lighting to the individual desk, placing instant control at your fingertips.”
