People are both the easiest and the hardest
subjects to photograph and getting the
perfect shot takes a combination of technical
skill, communication, and an eye for detail.
Most of us don’t like having their picture taken,
so getting your subject to relax is key - but to
do this you need to be relaxed, which just takes
a little planning. Whether you are just taking a
candid shot or a formal scene, have an idea of
the result you are after before you start. Take a
look at portraits taken by others for inspiration
and, if suitable, discuss your ideas with your
subject. Most of all though, enjoy it, because if
you’re both having fun you’re more likely to get
a great image.
