The Institute of Legacy Management is a non-profit organisation providing training and support for those dealing with legacies and has well established links with professional bodies such as the Law Society, STEP, Remember A Charity, the British Bankers Association and many others, to enhance standards of probate administration.
We have published, with the Law Society, the ‘Charities as Beneficiaries’ booklet for solicitors and charities. ILM’s main qualification, The Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration, is offered in collaboration with the College of Law. In addition ILM offers its members – legacy officers and solicitors – approximately two dozen one and two-day courses each year, many of which enjoy CPD accreditation. Our aim is to train but also to raise the general level of awareness amongst lawyers and charities in the field of legacy administration and to influence the standards of Probate Administration.
