This is a great before-dinner cocktail, since shaking yields a drink that is lighter on the palate. It’s aromatic, her- baceous and perfect before a meal. The herbs settle your belly and stimulate your palate, according to creator Andrew King. Its name is derived from the fact that both Bénédictine and Génépy were originally made by monks.
1 ½ oz. Buffalo Trace (a Kentucky Bourbon)
¾ oz. Génépy des Alpes ½ oz. Bénédictine ½ oz. lemon juice 12 drops Peychaud’s Bitters
Shake vigorously with ice and serve strained into martini glasses.
