STRIKING A NEW POSE

THE NEW POSABLE BFMC DOLLS Design Robert Best,

“I couldn’t be more excited!” That’s Senior Director of Barbie®

talking about a breakthrough coming soon to the Barbie®

Fashion Model Collection.

Starting with the 2016 line, the haute couture Silkstone®

dolls will be posable, with articulation

at the knees, elbows, wrists, and torso. It’s a step forward that Barbie®

doll collectors have been

asking for, and Robert worked closely with Mattel’s internal sculptor Sean Olmos and their development partners to make it happen.

“It was defi nitely time to shake things up and create some new excitement in this collection,” Robert notes. “I like to think of this line as evolving just like Barbie doll has evolved through the years.”

Every BFMC Silkstone body from 2016 onward will have seven new points of articulation, which opens up new possibilities for showcasing the fashions. “I think the team nailed it,” Robert says. “I’m sure many collectors will be excited about the innovation!”
