he most poignant moment of North Carolina’s memorable run to its first NCAA men’s lacrosse championship in a quarter of a century came May 22, when the Tar Heels dominated third-seeded Notre Dame 13-9 at Ohio State to reach the elusive NCAA semifinals. In a postgame interview on ESPN, coach Joe Breschi revealed that the team dedicated the game to his late son, Michael, who was killed in a tragic accident 12 years ago and laid to rest just 20 miles from the Horseshoe.
