t Should cover front torso from neckline to below navel t Body straps must be secured to the front of pad – adjust for a snug, comfortable fit t Too tight – restricts player’s movement t Too loose – pads can move & expose player to injury t Collar of chest protector should lie flat on player’s collarbone t Must wear underneath jersey
PELVIC/ABDOMINAL PROTECTION (YOUTH REQUIRED/HS RECOMMENDED) t Generally incorporated in leg pads
MOUTHGUARD (REQUIRED)
t Self-molding (from manufacturers) or custom-molded (from dentists) t Properly fitted, protecting the anterior (leading) dental arch, allowing players to talk & not cause discomfort
t Variety of materials, sizes, colors & fitting options t Must be visible color other than clear or white and must not have graphics of white teeth
t May not be altered to decrease protection; can cut if too large for athletes mouth. There may be no protruding tabs.
HELMET (REQUIRED)
t Must be field lacrosse-specific t Statement/seal to indicate it meets NOCSAE standard performance specs t Proper fit should be based on manufacturers’ guidelines & requirements on their website or included with helmet
THROAT GUARD (REQUIRED)
t Separate from helmet t Attach with snaps, screws or other fasteners t Proper fit for helmet & guard must be done relying on manufacturers’ guidelines & requirements on their website or included with helmet/guard
LEG PADS (REQUIRED)
t Must protect shins & thighs t May not use field hockey equipment t Tight enough so they don’t slide up or down during play t Tight enough not to cause discomfort
