legislative process works and hopefully had the opportunity to meet with your representa- tive from your district. During the Georgia legislative session, Jeff Ledford, GAR’s Director of Governmental Affairs, and our independent lobbyist Keith Hatcher work with our State andLocal Governmental Affairs Committee and our governmental affairs staff to determine the bills we will either support or work to defeat. If you have a desire to learn more and to get involved, please plan to attend the State andLocal Governmental Affairs Committee meet- ings, which are held everyMondayat 10:00 a.m. at the GAR headquarters while the legisla- ture is in session. In May, we will travel to Washington, D.C. to make the journey to Capitol Hill in order to meet with Georgia’s senators and congressmen during the REALTORS®

The “Hill visits” are a very important part of our strong advocacy program and to- gether we make a significant impact on issues affecting private property and homeownership in our real estate industry nationally. This is an opportunity for you to be part of making a difference and having your voice heard at the national level. Throughout the year, I want to encourage each of you to get involved and find your “passion” and a place in the REALTOR®
Association where you can make a difference. Go to

the Member Center tab on the home page, select “Committees” and search for a committee that fits your interests. Mark your calendar for September to apply to serve on a 2018 GAR committee, or to apply for the 2018 Leadership Academy and learn more about GAR while working to develop your leadership skills. As I have traveled around to many of our local boards and associations, I have found members serving on at the local level and working hard not only on a committee or in a leadership role but in their community as well. I just want to thank you all for your leadership and for working to make a difference in your community. As our GAR Vision Statement says — “Enhancing the quality of life in our communities” — that is what we are all about! Make a difference where ever you are ... that is your challenge. Just do it!
