country tasked by the Government to drive forward sustainable private sector growth and job creation. Our aim is to create the right conditions to “accelerate business-led economic growth in Hertfordshire” and for the county to become a world-leading economy; one of the top three in the country outside London. We work with local businesses,

ertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership is one of 39 LEPs across the

growth, unlock development, support key sectors, such as life sciences, advanced engineering and film and media, and ensure that we have a skilled and flexible workforce. It is the strength of this private and

public sector partnership that enables us to be united in our ambition to ensure Hertfordshire remains a great place to live, work and invest in.

The Growth Deal We have secured £221.5m to date from the Government’s Growth Deal to invest in projects that will foster growth in Hertfordshire through investment around its

New Towns and by building on its strategic location at the heart of significant UK assets. By 2021, this Deal will deliver at least

15,000 new jobs, allow 20,000 homes to be built and leverage £430m public and private investment.

Supporting life sciences: Hertfordshire LEP secured £3m investment to accelerate development at Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst

Here are three examples of how we are working with private and public-sector partners to transform the local economy.

Regenerating our New Towns: Stevenage Stevenage First, the Stevenage Town Centre Partnership, is working with potential investors and delivery partners to bring forward the new housing, shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities that will create a vibrant new town centre. The framework, called Stevenage

Central, was produced by consultants David Lock Associates (DLA), and outlines the opportunities available to regenerate the town centre by attracting inward investment and development. Stevenage First is a private and public

sector partnership, whose member organisations include Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Stevenage Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council and the Chamber of Commerce. The partnership’s vision is to

reinvigorate the centre of Stevenage so that it once again represents the aspirations of its people and makes provision for the opportunities they seek. Hertfordshire LEP has invested £15m to

help unlock obstacles to development. Some of this funding has been used to carry out essential studies which include a railway station masterplan; transport and parking and new leisure facilities. The results of these studies will shape a phased delivery programme for Stevenage Central and act as the catalyst to attract private investment of around £1bn over the next 15 years to deliver the exciting changes to the town centre.
