INCLUDING OUR PRIMARY SCHOOLS


Our vision for the Youth Council is to increase our age range representation.


We want to fully include young people who are of primary school age in our participation structure and believe every young person “is capable of forming his or her own views and has the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting them.” - Children in Scotland Act 1995.


We asked young people from our primary schools how they thought we could include primary school pupils from North Ayrshire in our Youth Council.


Our target for the next two years is to increase participation of young people to include a wider age range. This will be achieved by using the Pupil Council Toolkit and developing the partnerships with Pupil Councils, Head Teachers and Parent Councils.
