Bellway sees heightened demand for homes in Wales
A combination of favourable market conditions and the availability of schemes to make buying easier is encouraging more people to start looking for a new home, according to Bellway Wales. Data released by the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) claims that there are currently 11 different buyers competing for any one property being marketed by estate agents in the UK, the highest number since February 2016. An average of 425 prospective buyers were registered to each estate agent branch in the UK in January, a 10 per cent rise on the number in December 2016. Sales Director for Bellway’s Wales division, Billie Oaten, said demand at Bellway’s developments in Wales had shown no signs of slowing down. She said: “Te demand for homes in Wales is incredibly high, and we’re not surprised at all to see that more and more people are looking to make the move to

a new home. “Many buyers are looking to take advantage of the favourable market conditions at the moment, whether they are buying for the first time or already have a property to sell. Mortgage rates are still incredibly low, and there is a huge variety of different schemes which are designed to make moving house easy and more affordable. “House prices in the region are continuing to soar, so many are looking to snap up a new home now to beat the continuing increase. We’ve certainly seen an increase in the amount of visitors to our sites, and people who have registered their interest in our upcoming developments as well.” Bellway is currently building a number of developments in Wales, including St Lythans Park in Wenvoe, Edenbrook in Ystradowen and Highfields in Pontprennau.
