Pubs & Clubs There are plenty of pubs and one Niteclub. We recommend the following:
Portugalles – one of the closest bars to the ground and always popular with Merthyr fans returning from an away game. The Portuguese food is amazing, very friendly staff, live music or karaoke on the weekend and you can wear an authentic sombrero so what’s not to like!!
The Anchor – down the high street on the left. The Anchor has been refurbished and serves a couple of guest ales which should satisfy the more discerning drinker.
The Winchester – a perfect pub if you also enjoy horse racing. It’s a Rhymney Brewery pub too so the real ale is tidy too.
Ye Olde Express - Opposite the Anchor and is decent if you’re not brave enough to brave the Kooler night club, stays open until 1am.
The Crown - At the bottom of the High Street is worth a visit especially if you want a taste of live music after the match. Also serves lovely Portuguese food.
