VR in science and maths for secondary V

irtual Reality (VR) as a new technology has attracted a

lot of media attention, with several wild predictions for its growth being regularly suggested. Education is set to take VR

into the classroom, so Veative has created educational content for VR that’s ready for implementation and aligned to curriculums to take on the needs of students and teachers. Veative VR Learn content has been created to increase

interaction and understanding, the “Anatomy of the Heart” module includes a diagram of the heart and its parts. The activity uses dissection and reconstruction to enable practice, which leads to retention and learning. Students learn through mini assessments, where they’re asked to label the correct parts of the heart. Through practice and repetition, all in a totally immersive 3D environment, the student and teacher can both ensure resources are not exhausted or wasted. This level of interactivity, timed activity and all the data it creates, provides smart analytics that report how well the student is progressing, therefore enhancing the teaching and learning experience. eCLIPS: supporting teachers and careers advisers

A resource for engaging boys B

ig Boys Don’t Cry is a new resource pack aimed at helping boys who are struggling to deal with past incidents and traumas.

Developed in response to the shortage of relevant material in this field, it

consists of an illustrated story book and a workbook and is for use with boys aged 5-9 years old. The book has a very simple story with a very simple message - that it’s OK

for boys to feel hurt or upset, to cry and, most importantly, to ask for help. The workbook consists of 11 worksheets that explore these issues in more

depth in a fun way. The workbook is available on a CD so you can print out the worksheets as many times as you want. Professionals who have used the resource have fed back that they found it

very helpful and the children involved have enjoyed both the story and worksheets.

AZ’s NEW HTML5 Edition offers teachers a simple and effective way of teaching students of all abilities how to type. The program allows

the tutor to allocate either a standard or SEN/Dyslexia version of the course to each student. Both versions are fun and engaging and suited for ages 6 +. The SEN/Dyslexia option, developed with advice and guidance from

The Dyslexia Research Trust, teaches typing skills whilst addressing issues related to visual stress. Incorporating a multi-sensory approach, the program opens with a unique ‘Preference Screen’ allowing the student to select preferences – aimed at maximising optimum reading comfort. The program also includes an easy to use back office allowing

teachers to upload students and monitor progress, speed and accuracy. The combination licence of both versions makes KAZ’s NEW HTML5
