With climate change high on everyone’s agenda, manufacturers in the heating and cooling sector are under increasing pressure to deliver ever more energy effi cient products and to continue to invest in R&D. Tony Nielsen, UK marketing manager for Panasonic highlights some of the company’s latest green initiatives.

ith 79% of energy consumption across Europe coming from heating, cooling and producing domestic hot


water (DHW), manufacturers such as Panasonic continue to place the advancement of energy effi cient technologies at the top of the agenda. This is an area that has the potential to make signifi cant in-roads into environmental performance targets. Indeed, Panasonic is clear about its


environmental vision - with goals set to be achieved by 2050 to off er products with greater energy effi ciency: “To achieve a better life and a


sustainable global environment, Panasonic will work towards the creation and more effi cient utilisation of energy which exceeds the amount of energy used, aiming for a society with clean energy and a more comfortable lifestyle. ‘A better life, a better world.’” Energy effi ciency heat pump technology is


currently a hot topic and at present thought as one of the suitable alternative renewable technologies to replace gas boilers to adhere to UK government environmental targets set in June 2019 to help achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in the UK by 2050. Furthermore,
