The Climate A List, along with the climate scores of all companies publicly taking part in CDP’s climate change programme this year, is available on CDP’s website.

CFM LLC is managed by the organisation’s fibre supply team and has become a cost-effective means for small private landowners to become FSC certified. (CPI) congratulated its former director general, David Workman, on winning the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award at the UK Packaging Awards 2016 ceremony, held at the end of October. He became director general of CPI in 2010; he then retired from CPI and the UK’s paper and packaging-based industries in September this year. Surprised and pleased to accept the

award, Workman said: “I thought I was here to make up the numbers, I really had no idea!” He went on to praise the work of the packaging industry pointing to the “excellent” entries he’d seen on the night and saying the future for packaging is very bright.


CPI’S SUBMISSION TO THE CHANCELLOR Elsewhere, the CPI’s new director general, Andrew Large, who took over the role in the summer, has written to the Chancellor outlining the key issues facing the paper industry with recommendations for the forthcoming Autumn Statement, due on November 23. In regard to the


effect of UK energy taxation policy on the global competitiveness of the UK paper- based sector, he wrote: “Our aim has been to ensure that the sector can be internationally cost competitive and can operate on a level playing field with other European and Global paper producers. Government support has only covered part of the sector; more needs to be done to assist the industry to grow while continuing to decarbonise.” Large also spoke about concerns over ‘Brexit’ and investment and trade in the UK.
