ARTING will be showing a range of connectors, device connection technology and network components for the energy market on stand 20 at the Global Offshore Wind 2016 exhibition, 21st- 22nd June, in Manchester. This is the first time that HARTING has participated in this annual conference and exhibition, but the company already has an impressive track record in the market. Amongst the products displayed by HARTING will be the Plug & Play solution developed for The Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm, 24 miles off the coast near Cromer in North Norfolk, one of the biggest and most exciting energy projects currently under construction in Europe. The turbines are supplied and commissioned by Siemens. Each generates 6MW, and stand about 150m tall: this is the first offshore project to use such large turbines.

The socket offers a large wiring compartment, big enough to accommodate an electric screwdriver. They can be fitted directly to a round conduit box, using the 2 captive M4 screws provided, or order the trunking mount version if fitting to trunking, cable basket or tray. Large terminals, all in line, and a cover that fits last means that termination is particularly easy The flex7 plugs boast a snap-on/snap-off cover and a pair of screws which both secure the cover and clamp the flexible cable, making it quick and easy to wire. strong mechanical latches on each plug double as finger grips, making de-latching for plug removal almost automatic when (and only when) you need it. Plastics manufacturer cuts energy costs by 15 percent with motor-drive package

apital Valley Plastics produces gas barriers, damp proof membrane and damp proof course at its plant near Pontypool in South Wales.
The company uses several blown film extruders, which it was keen to make more efficient and productive. Richard Haigh, Capital Valley’s project manager, says: “Some of our extrusion lines are between 20 and 30 years old and we wanted to improve their output and efficiency without committing to a large investment.” Capital Valley’s electrical maintenance contractor Lesco recommended ABB’s Authorised Value Provider, APDS. APDS recommended an ABB 200 kW IE3 motor together with an
ACS880 variable-speed drive. Together with the new barrel and screw, the ABB drive and motor are saving Capital Valley Plastics between 10 and 15 percent on power use per tonne on the refurbished machine.
