metering and cost allocation in applications up to 100 A for the ET112 and 65A for the ET340 (direct connection), class 1 accuracy with import/export and dual tariff management. The optical port allows simple and fast

programming of the parameters, variable reading and data logging with the relevant OptoProg optical adapter. Both the ET112 and ET340 offer fast and simple installation, thanks to the transducers’

nergy management specialist, Carlo Gavazzi has launched the ET112 and ET340 transducers, designed for single and

self‐power supply from the voltage reference inputs, automatic phase detection with wrong‐ phase‐sequence warning and fast application‐ oriented programming procedure. Measuring kWh, kvarh imported and

exported energy, the transducer is optionally provided with pulse output, RS485 Modbus port and if space is a problem, the ET112 is only 2 DIN wide and 3 DIN wide for the 65A ET340. A selection of variables can be programmed

providing for active and reactive energy measurement. Accuracy is ±0.5% RDG (V, A), and the meter

is rated Class B (kWh) according to EN50470‐3 and Class 1 (kWh) of EN62053‐21.

TRIGON XL is top of Class 6 W

ith ErP Ecodesign NOx legislation set to change in 2018, ELCO Heating Solutions is committed to

ensuring all gas condensing boiler models in its range outperform current minimum standards.

This has been underpinned by the recent launch of ELCO’s TRIGON® XL floor standing boiler, which has been awarded a Class 6 NOx rating, with emissions as low as 34mg/kWh. Achieving a Class 6 rating with NOx emissions less than 40mg/kWh demonstrates ELCO’s manufacturing expertise, highlighting how the TRIGON® XL is future‐proofed against any upcoming tightening of standards. The rating also helps specifiers when assessing project criteria under BREEAM, with three credits available if a building achieves less than 40mg/kWh. Available in seven models with outputs

from 150‐570kW, benefits of the TRIGON® XL range include: an 8 bar working pressure, 30k flow/return temperature differential and superb seasonal efficiencies up to 97.5% – all contained within an ultra‐ compact footprint.

The boiler’s impressive low NOx emissions

are achieved by utilising a commercially proven premix‐burner system, which includes a fully modulating, water cooled cold flame burner. This is combined with an optimised combustion system and stainless steel heat exchanger for reliable and robust lifetime performance – while also offering gross seasonal efficiencies of up to 97.5%.

ductwork formed from Kingspan KoolDuct Panels offered an innovative HVAC solution for this phase. Unlike galvanised steel, both systems are pre‐insulated using Kingspan KoolDuct panels. This design eliminates the time‐consuming lagging stage and can save as much as 200 mm ceiling void space in a single dimension. Rori Millar, BIM and Coordination Manager at cg3 Systems, discussed the challenge: “Due to

the castellated beams, it was essential that the quantities of ductwork were almost millimetre perfect. This required careful clash detection implementation, measurement and coordination. “The 3D modelling as part of the BIM process at pre‐site stage, in addition to guidance and support from Kingspan’s superb technical team, ensured the ductwork systems would fit properly. Onsite, it was installed exactly in accordance with the 3D models, and included many offsets and pieces which simply wouldn’t have been possible with sheet‐metal type ductwork.”

cable‐stayed bridge features an A‐frame pylon rising to 105m (344ft), and will span the River Wear between Castletown and Pallion. Balfour Beatty approached Ellis after its plan to

secure the cables proved unworkable. And although Ellis had no suitable, standard alternatives, its product development team developed a bespoke solution that secured the order. Ellis MD, Richard Shaw, said: “In the past, if we didn’t have a standard product for a project we’d been asked to quote on that would have been the end of it. Today though we are very much the industry solutions provider, and as such if we don’t already have the perfect solution we will design and manufacture it.” Designed to support Emtelle ducts, which in turn support the power cables running the length of the bridge, the Ellis solution incorporates 252 specially designed assemblies, each comprising 12 standard 2F+172 clamps and a stainless steel support frame. The bridge is scheduled to open next Spring. For information call 01944 758 395 or visit:

Hero Plant – a pre‐fabricated flushing bypass arrangement for larger plant devices such as air handling units, heat exchangers and heater batteries. The new Hero Plant combines

isolation, drain strain and a flushing bypass assembly with Danfoss’ AB‐QM pressure independent control; creating a ready‐to install solution that saves time on site and eliminates the need for ‘hot works’ permits and the associated site safety concerns. Danfoss, Hero Plant is a unique

concept that will make life much easier for M&E contractors and HVAC design consultants. Bjorn Sejr Nielsen, Danfoss Marketing Director, comments: “In developing the pre‐fabricated Hero Plant assembly we can now offer the cost and time savings of our Hero flushing bypass manifold to larger HVAC devices.”

Among the key design features

of Danfoss’ new Hero Plant are flow and return mounted drains for flushing and quick drain‐ downs. It also includes a strainer to prevent plant performance deterioration by removing particles from the system, like welding beads, swarf and sand, which could damage sensitive components. Components within the Hero Plant assembly are installed to enable rotation should they clash with other pipework, for example. For more information call 0845 1217400 or visit
