MHC Hires New Executive Director T e Maryland Horse Council welcomes Carrie Hull to our team as MHC’s
new Executive Director. Carrie has lifelong ties to the Maryland horse commu- nity having grown up on her family’s farms, fi rst in Baltimore County and now at Hullfi elds, LLC, in Montgomery County. Carrie’s mother, Susan Hull, rode on the hunter circuit before having twins. “My sister and I were basically born in the saddle and we both got our start competing in leadline classes,” Carrie said. Carrie found her niche in dressage when she was about eight years old and competed in that discipline until she went to college. At George Washington University, where she graduated from the Elliott School of International Aff airs, Carrie helped form the school’s Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association team. Carrie has served as the project manager for several historic properties in the Mid-Atlantic region, aiding their restoration eff orts and future architectural plans for memorials. Along with these engagements, Carrie is the Principal of George- town Strategy, a fundraising and consulting fi rm that specializes in foundation management. She spent the fi rst ten years of her career in fi nance. She was a mem- ber Bank of America’s LEAD for Women, an employee resource group for women dedicated to promoting women’s professional development. Carrie was also the committee leader for the Merrill Lynch Capital Region Women’s Exchange, a networking and mentoring program with over 5,000 members nationwide, for the women at Merrill Lynch. Prior to joining MHC, Carrie was the Director of Planned Giving and Strategic Engagement at the Goldwater Institute in Phoenix, AZ. Carrie has worked on staff as a gift planner and major gifts offi cer at the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution where she directed a well-established planned giving program and managed a traditional portfolio of major gift prospects. During her time at NSDAR, she supported a successful capital campaign for the fi rst phase of restoration of the only standing monument to the U.S. Constitution, DAR Con- stitution Hall. Between 2004 and 2014, Carrie worked in investment management. She worked for both domestic and international fi nancial services fi rms in their Private Banking and Investment Groups. She also worked for a small alternative asset hedge fund. Carrie has volunteered for a number of high-profi le organizations including the
Washington International Horse Show where she began in the pressroom and now assists with the overall production of the show. “Basically, I do any work I can that their full-time staff needs to keep everything at the show running as it should,” Carrie explained. She has been on many special event host committees, but would highlight her work with the National Kidney Foundation’s annual Casino Night. Carrie is currently the Vice Regent of her National Society Daughters of the
American Revolution chapter. Carrie offi cially joined MHC in her new role as Executive Director at the con-
clusion of this year’s WIHS. In her new position, Carrie will be responsible for the day-to-day management and growth of MHC, T e Equiery and METS. “T ere is a lot of opportunity within MHC to rebuild membership as well as engage current members and show them the worth of their membership,” Carrie stated. “I also see this position as a leadership role to help build the MHC, Equiery, and METS operation in tandem and work towards future goals as a unit.” Carrie will be based out of MHC’s headquarters in Lisbon and can be reached at 844-MDHORSE xt. 705 and
