Trained by Dale Capuano, Kenny Had a Notion won the $100,000 Maryland Million Nursery by fi ve lengths. Ridden by Jorge Ruiz, the two-year-old is by Great Notion and owned by Louis J. Ulman and Neil Glasser.


Jockey Trevor McCarthy piloted Epic Idea for trainer Ann Merryman to win the $100,000 Maryland Million Ladies, the fi lly’s fi rst career stakes win. Maryland-bred, the Great Notion fi lly is owned by breader by Vivian E. Rall.


The 13-hand Pretty Good Year passed the leaders in the fi - nal stretch to win the $100,000 Maryland Million Turf for own- ers Lead Off Stable. The Great Notion gelding is based out of the Fair Hill Training Center and was ridden by Sheldon Russell for the win.


Trevor McCarthy earned another win, this time riding Robert Masiello’s Fiya in the $75,000 Maryland Mil- lion Turf Sprint. Bred in Maryland by Ann Mer- ryman, the three-year- old is by Friesan Fire.

The big winner of the day was Monday Morning QB, ridden to victory in the Maryland Million Classic by Sheldon Russell. Bred in Maryland by Bowman & Higgins Stables and Cary Frommer, the three-year- old son of Imagining fi nished second in the Federico Tesio Stakes earlier this year. Monday Morning QB is trained by Robert E. Reid Jr., and owned by Cash is King LLC and LC Racing LLC.

Barak Farm’s Miss Nondescript won at the wire in the $100,000 Maryland Million Lass- ie. Ridden by Trevor McCarthy, the Mary- land-bred fi lly’s win marked the fi rst stakes win for freshman sire Mosler. Miss Nonde- script is trained by Michael Trombetta.


Sire Great Notion earned another win when Karan’s Notion won the Maryland Million Sprint. Ridden by Yomar Orland Ortiz, the three-year-old is trained by owner/breeder Nancy B. Heil.
