that allows scribes to write the judges comments using a stylus. Everybody can write, but not many people can touch type. Rid- ers get their dressage test sheets sent to them electronically, and these sheets look just like a paper test sheet.

The dressage scribe has an intuitive interface with the scoring app. If all the movements in the test do not have a score, the app displays a message that a score is missing and must be input before moving on to the next test.
The entries side of things The beauty of the Compete Easy app is that not only
does it allow volunteers to enter their scores, it also gives com- petitors control of their entries. Under most entry systems, any changes have to be made by management, leading to the prolif- eration of the dreaded “change fee.” Under the Compete Easy system, until the event is scheduled, competitors can easily make their own changes, without having to go to the offi ce staff.
Taking the Plunge Once the staff, volunteers and competitors were fairly
comfortable with Compete Easy, it was time to use it at a Unit- ed States Eventing Association Recognized Horse Trial. MDHT II, July 10 & 11, was scheduled to be that horse trial. Compete Easy even sent a staff member to be on hand and offer ad- vice during the show. One of Nominate’s (Compete Easy) advantages in Austra- lia is that it maintains the membership database for Equestrian Australia, so it has access to all the mem- ber numbers and required information. (Compete Easy also maintains the databas- es for the 300 New Zealand Pony Clubs, and the nation- al federation database for the Philippines.) As of July, Compete Easy now inte- grates with the USEA mem- bership database, making it even easier for competitors to do their entries through
