advice for onal business travellers

• Check the water Some destinations have different standards when it comes to drinking water, even in business hotels. Unless you’re 100% certain that the water is clean and safe, don’t drink it (including in your squash or scotch), don’t order drinks with ice cubes, don’t order salads which are washed and don’t let water get into your mouth when you take a shower, or swallow when you rinse.

Try to avoid uncooked meat or fish, and wash and/or sanitise your hands frequently.

• Always have a Plan B If your company doesn’t have an international assistance programme or an emergency evacuation service, how will you obtain assistance? Have a current up-to- date list of airlines, ports, travel providers, train networks and taxi or car services should you need to leave the country urgently.

To conclude, make the most of your business trip, but to make sure it’s enjoyable and successful, my advice is take a moment, follow these basic tips and remain safe, secure and prepared.
