by Ryan Fletcher looks at the best way to get into journalism and gets tips from highly successful journalists about what you need to do to get started and get ahead. As young people enter journalism now they are expected

to master all formats – writing, video, and importantly social media. Rachel Broady looks at the many pitfalls of not taking care on social media. Last month the TUC kicked off the autumn conference season. We have reports from the TUC of the NUJ’s contribution and of the general news from other unions. The TUC is the union movement’s biggest event and one that used to attract an army of industrial correspondents in the days when newspapers prided themselves on having specialists. Our Starting Out column is written by Conrad Landin, the Morning Star’s industrial correspondent. He writes about his experiences of the conference circuit and the many seaside towns involved. I hope you find something of interest in this edition.
