letters Dear Friends,
Today, I have been thinking of how fortunate we are to live in a country as stable and prosperous as ours. A year ago, I was approached by students canvassing for the UN Refugee Agency. I was prepared to make a one-time donation to move them along but they said they need an ongoing commitment as refugee needs aren’t a one-time thing.
After listening to them and reading their material, I made a commitment to a monthly donation. Never before have so many people been displaced by war or insurrection and then we have unexpected natural disasters. I am heartened to think that the UN Refugee Agency is trying to make a difference and that I am helping in a small way. Please consider supporting this agency if their work resonates with you.
Tanks, Bill To whom it may concern,
My high school prom was on May 29th but I decided not to attend two weeks prior when I was reading about the Nepal Earthquake’s effect on women and specifically sex slavery.
I donated the money I had saved up for my dress and tickets to this fund and created a fundraiser called “Ditching Prom for Nepal” a crowdfunding site via GoFundMe. Te initial goal was $500 for one tent, but this amount affords three tents, thanks to donors’ generosity.
Take care! Tank you! Namaste & Kindest Regards, Ashley
Dear UNHCR Canada, Tank you for the gift of the bracelet made by Guatemalan artisans. It brought tears to my eyes, but in a good way. Sincerely,
Donna
