owned by the Gospel Mission Church on Pembina Avenue in Winkler. Henry and Tracy Krahn, a young couple who have been part of our church family for several years, have accepted the exciting challenge of pastoring the new church. Te elders and ministry leaders of each church will continue to work closely even aſter the new church has started. Many church min- istries will continue as joint ventures for the time being. We look forward to this wonderful opportunity to reach people and make disciples! Please pray for unity in this venture,

that we would all work toward the com- mon goal of loving God and loving people and reaching others for Christ! Beth Bickell, Correspondent

Stuartburn Gospel Chapel Stuartburn, Manitoba Mark Funk, Pastor Parents and kids enjoyed a won-

derful Awana Grand Prix competition in early March. Len Friesen, Awana Missionary for Manitoba and Northern Ontario, brought his amazing race track and timing equipment. Children of our church and community raced the cars they had made by transforming a block of wood into unique expressions of transportation. We are so grateful for Len’s commitment to promote Awana program events and to help us to close the season with joy. Women’s Ministries hosted a soup and

pie lunch to raise funds for a ministry which feeds children in Costa Rica. A family that feeds about 220 children in two locations would like to expand the program and to be able to sustain and improve their nutritional supplies. Our giſts will help purchase chickens and the cages for a “chicken and egg” business for this ministry. While we rarely experience real hunger

for food, we do need to enlarge our spiri- tual appetites. Pastor Mark is encouraging us to read and study Scripture by provid- ing a Bible Training Class. Te first course

Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church Marion, South Dakota Randell J. Maass, Pastor Te churches of the community cele-

brated Palm Sunday with a joint commu- nity pre-Easter service at the Presbyterian Church. Te pastors each shared scriptures and short meditations on the events lead- ing up to the Crucifixion. On Good Friday we again commem-

orated communion jointly with the Bethesda Mennonite Church and others of the community, followed by a Tenebrae service. A Tenebrae service is designed to recreate the betrayal, abandonment, and agony Jesus faced. It is leſt unfinished because the story isn’t over until Easter. Te 35-member choir from Grace

Lutheran Church of Parker was in concert at our church on Mar. 13. Teir theme was

“Your walk talks, and your talk talks, but your walk talks louder than your talk talks.” In other words … actions speak louder than words! Te choir addressed that theme through contemporary gospel songs that encouraged our daily “Walk with Jesus”. Missionaries Ken and Sheila Ortman

recently reported in area churches on their ministry to boys at LUC Ranch in Mis- souri. Doyle Dick spent several weeks at LUC Ranch, volunteering as a mechanic to repair and service quite a few vehicles.

Crosspoint Bible Church Omaha and Bennington, Nebraska Don Pahl, Pastor In February, our Bennington campus

hosted Comedy Night featuring a local group, 88improv (88improv.com). Te large audience included 15-20 visitors. Our Bennington campus continues to look for ways to reach out to the surround- ing community, and Comedy Night was a unique way to get our church’s name out to people in Bennington. A groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 28

celebrated the beginning of construction on an addition to our Omaha campus building. Tis will add a new nursery, restrooms, library and foyer to our existing building as well as renovate and reconfigure our existing building. Our goal is to prepare our facility for the next 25 years of ministry. Heart-to-Heart had a kick-off for its

mentoring program which pairs older women with younger women for a year- long commitment of encouragement and prayer for the younger women. Our children (grades 1-6) performed

the musical “Te Easter Tree” (lillenas. com) on Palm Sunday. Our Good Friday service included communion, readings, and music. A specially formed Easter choir as well as a brass ensemble joined our wor- ship team to lead us in Easter praise. Baptisms: Tree in January Sherrie Lindsey, Correspondent
