VICTORY DANCE

Defenders Ent’s Corey Johnson and Sentric Music - who administer Johnson’s publishing company DMMP - are celebrating the delivery of two accolades in both the UK and US. The reason? They provided Drake/OVO Sound with the rights to sample Do You Mind by Crazy Cousinz Ft. Kyla for Drake’s global smash One Dance. Pictured showing off his brand new multi-platinum plaque here is Corey Johnson.

MAC & (SAY) CHEESE 

Warner Music Group recently announced that it has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with songwriting and production duo Matthew Holmes and Phil Leigh, aka Mac & Phil. The pair have composed songs for the likes of The Chainsmokers, Ella Henderson, Emeli Sandé, James Arthur and Naughty Boy. Snapped celebrating their new partnership are (L-R): Chris Phillips (TSPM Law), Mike Smith (managing director, Warner/Chappell Music UK), Phil Leigh, Matthew Holmes, Tom Overbury (senior A&R manager, Warner/Chappell UK), Hannan Malik (TenForty Management).

What was the first song you ever wrote? Either Ambition In Mind or Telephone Love. Both of the standard to be expected of a 13-year-old…

And the last song? A song called Habitually with an artist called Tom Prior who is signed to Island Records.

What is the song you’re proudest of and why? I think Coming Up Easy with Paolo Nutini. It’s a cool track that he took as far as it could go.

Who is your favourite songwriter of all time? Stevie Wonder [pictured], closely followed by Donald Fagen.

And your favourite of the moment?

I think Paolo is one of the great writers and artists of our generation. I think Rag’N’Bone Man is a real talent and I’m also enjoying The xx.
