processability, fl owability and transparency. And BASF showcased a number of medical applica- tions at the show, including medical tubing. Its Hexamoll Dinch plasticiser ensures that PVC medical tubes have a good toxicological profi le and low migration rate. The additive meets various legal requirements for use in medical applications and is approved for use in medical tubes for dialysis treatment and intravenous therapy. In addition, its Elastollan thermoplastic polyurethane is also used in medical tubes for intravenous therapy as it is chemically resistant, highly transparent, easy to sterilise with ethylene oxide and gamma rays, and offers high resistance to tears. Both materials provide fl exibility without the use of phthalates, said the company.
