Schüco extruder of the month

Head office: Founded: Bielefeld, Germany

CEO: Andreas Englehardt 1951

Ownership: Employees:

Turnover (2015):

Private (part of Otto Fuchs Group) 4,630

€1.43bn

Profile: Schüco was founded in 1951 with six employees – making shop windows, awnings and rolling grilles. The company is now a leading producer of PVC windows, doors and facades – though says it is a “specialist in the entire building envelope” through its other divisions in metal and solar. The company now sells its products internationally, and is active in more than 80 countries.

Product lines: The company has a number of leading products within its Schüco Polymer Technologies division. It recently unveiled the VarioTec Air fitting, which ensures natural ventilation of living spaces – while being highly sound- and heat-insulating, and secure enough to prevent burglary. Earlier, it launched its LivIng window and door system, with a new gasket system to prevent draught, moisture and noise.

Factory locations: The company has manufacturing locations both within and outside Germany. At its Weißenfels plant in Germany, it recently commissioned a twin-strand coextrusion system from KraussMaffei Berstorff. Here, a long-standing single extruder was integrated into a twin-strand extrusion machine to make co-extruded window profiles.
