LPGA-USGA ‘Girls Golf Train’ is full steam ahead in Phoenix
n By Cori Matheson A
ll board! This “Girls Golf Train” is about to set off to places of dreams. In fact, the members of the LPGA-
USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix already have had so much fun this year, and yet it seems the year has just begun. Phoenix area girls (ages 3-18) are
offered year-round opportunities — all over the Valley of the Sun! Isn’t that one of the most beautiful things about Phoenix? We have golf availability all year long. Lucky us! Yet with so many engaging events behind us, there are
over 40 events still on the tracks ahead. One of our stops is to host a National
Girls Golf Academy. The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix chapter hosted this national Girls Golf/LPGA Foundation event — for the first time in the Southwest — in May 2017. This event will be held this year in only five cities across the country, and Girls Golf of Phoenix is one of them! The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf National
Academy will be hosted at Longbow Golf Club on Sept. 1-3. It is open to girls ages 6-13 of all golfing ability. The Girls Golf Train is also headed
to host the fourth annual Girls Golf Day at Papago Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 27. This will be one of the first events at the newly remodeled facility. The day’s activities are still in the works but we know that this event is one of our favorites all year! In May, the Girls Golf Train
will be encouraging more “Mom” involvement! TWO of our events in May will welcome our moms (or substitute moms) the opportunity to participate, too! And May 5 is our Mother/Daughter Tournament at the Arizona Biltmore GC, and May 12 is
“Supermom” Game Changers Practice Day at Sun City Country Club. Full steam ahead! We hope to see you
soon! For complete membership and schedule information, visit
