Island Beats Magazine first met Kirk Diamond at the Juno Awards 2018 in Vancouver where he won the award for best reggae recording.

Kirk was such a humbled soul when we met at the Calabash restaurant in Van- couver it was a pleasure for Island Beats to interview him at the after party.

Kirk shared with Island Beats that his music career officially took flight in 2009 right here in Canada though he always gravitated to music as a child he shared his memories of dancing and singing and that passion for music fol- lowed him all the way from Jamaica to Canada

Kirk’s first track was released in Canada in 2009 a track called BMF a remix with his at that time group called Don Dem which was actually released on a mixed tape which was a hit in the dance hall scene in Toronto.

The birth of his son in 2010 changed Kirk Diamond’s course in the music indus- try and was his influence to sing conscious style reggae as opposed to dance hall.

Kirk shared with us that he has been on many venues the one’s that stand out in his mind is the Calgary Reggae Fest in Canada and also Jambana, Toronto Reggae Fest as well. One of his high lights is his performance on the annual GT Extravaganza in Jamaica in 2014. Not only has Kirk Diamond’s talent taken him to the stage across Canada and Jamaica the land of his birth he was also live on the stage at in Lambeth Square in London England and also at the Can- cun Jump Off in Mexico.

We asked Kirk to share with us some of the high lights of his music career since he started out in 2009 and he revealed that he had the rare opportunity to free style on BBC radio in England which he mentioned was at the top of his list and also being able to travel as well. Definitely he affirmed that winning the Canadian Juno Award for 2018 also shone light on his portfolio as well for the reggae recording of the year.
