Over the last 18-years, Harrogate-based property professionals, John Carter and Stuart Smith have helped raise over £100,000 for the NSPCC, and in 2017 the pair are setting their sights higher than ever before they want to surpass the record-breaking £17,798 raised at last year's annual ball.


John Carter, Bellway Yorkshire's managing director, and Stuart Smith, the company's senior buyer, first came together to raise money for the NSPCC in 1999 when they worked together at TaylorWoodrow, and now several career steps later, are still dedicated to helping the charity in its on-going fight against child abuse.


Stuart Smith, who has been with


Bellway since 2015, said: “We haven't quite managed a ball a year since we first started, but last year was our tenth in seventeen years, so we've done pretty well especially when you consider the amount we've raised has grown every year, and the night itself has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the local property industry calendar.”


This year's Bellway NSPCC Charity Ball takes place on Saturday 30th September at The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, and although tickets aren't on public sale there is still an opportunity for local people and businesses to play their part in the fundraising effort. John and Stuart are currently looking for


donations for both raffle prizes and auction lots and are delighted to accept whatever people deem fit to donate.


“Last year we had everything from meal vouchers to hampers, bottles of whisky to tickets to the races, and everything that was donated was either added to the auction or given away in the raffle,” continued Stuart. “Therefore, if any local businesses or individuals would like to help us break through the £20,000 mark for the very first time then do get in touch we'd love to hear from you.”
