Animal Protection
The Animal Protection Officer operates with full authority under the Ontario SPCA Act in responding to complaints of abuse or neglect, often gathering information and evidence for possible prosecutions under the Criminal Code of Canada. This department also conducts regular inspection of zoos, fairs, and exhibits where animals are involved. Prevention and improvement are always preferred to prosecution, so advice and consultation are provided when a visit is made in response to a complaint.
Education Programs
The CDHS Education Programs are offered in schools and a variety of public forums, with the goal of helping people develop a caring attitude toward animals, the environment and each other. Classroom presentations, shelter tours and lectures are completed each year.
