Digital switching, distributed switching or multiplexing: regardless of the terminology, on-board digital power distribution has attended fi nishing school and is worthy of consideration for vessels small & large, power & sail and custom or production. We’ll discuss the growing prevalence of digital switching systems, look at what a system might look like to the end user and to the installer and highlight the most common manufacturers in the U.S. market. Catboats, whitehalls, wherries, peapods, dories, sharpies … 19th-century America saw the development of boats that rank as some of the most beautiful and perfectly adapted boats conceived. The average TSCA member likes messing about in small (engineless) boats that perform superbly. NOE TRAIL AND MAINE COAST, with John Connelly. John wanted to do something big by his 60th birthday. So, he set off on a dream trip. Starting in April 2016, he paddled a canoe the length of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail from Old Forge, NY to Fort Kent, ME. Then he kayaked down the St. John River and along Maine Island Trail from Eastport to Kittery, a combined 1,500 miles. Sponsored by Portland Yacht Services, Marine Mechanics Institute (MMI) and Universal Technical Institute (UTI) and organized in part by Portland Arts and Technical School (PATHS). This is a timed competition great for the industry. En- courage these students!
