“Because of what I experienced at #thestruggleisreal Rally, I will listen with more intent to what my youth are saying.”

~Adult youth leader, Gettysburg rally Gettysburg UMC graciously hosted the

first #thestruggleisreal Youth Rally on Sunday, January 8. Youth and their adult leaders from Harrisburg, Altoona, and York Districts gathered to acknowledge their struggles, realize they are not alone, and find hope that they can cope with their struggles through the power of Christ and the love of their neighbor. Everyone participated in a wonderful

worship service lead by the youth of the YPMC and Blessed Praise Band, a youth praise band from Loysburg UMC. Youth then spent time with others outside of their youth group in small group discussion and support, team-building activities,

and assembling “blessing

bags” to hand to homeless individuals in their own community. Adult youth leaders attended a training on “Helping Teens Struggle Well.” Over a great meal including

sloppy Joes, mac-n-cheese, and ice cream sundaes, youth and adults talked in their youth groups about what they had experienced and learned about struggling together. Registration
