“So, what did you get up to at the weekend”?

“Well, I dressed-up as a Pirate, went on a 5-mile walk, played rounders, took part in a treasure hunt, roasted marshmallows on a campfire, sang (very badly) in-front of 20 people around the same fire, made a catapult from bamboo skewers/elastic bands/marshmallows, and watched a Pirate film...”.

Cue strange looks…but it’s just a selection of some of the good stuff you can get up to as a volunteer for the UK Scouting movement!

1st Hinckley Scout Group are actively seeking adult volunteers to help deliver a wide ranging and fun programme to local children from the ages of 6 up to 18 years of age. We have vacancies across all our sections, but especially Beaver Scouts and Scouts.

1st Hinckley is the oldest Scout Group within the Hinckley District, and is one of the oldest Groups in the country. We currently have around 40 youth members, and we would have more scope to grow this with additional volunteers.

You can help in any way possible, be that as an Occasional Helper, with more regular attendance as a Sectional Assistant, or even up to a uniformed position as a Warranted Assistant Leader (moving up to Section Leader over time).

Please mention Roundabout Hinckley when responding to adverts

You would be surprised at how Scouting can make use of any skills or experience that you have to offer! Training is also available, often with widely recognised qualifications. Standard DBS checks would be required for any role involving youth members.

It’s an extremely rewarding and enjoyable pastime. You will get to meet a lot of people, learn a wide range of new skills (many of which benefit you outside of Scouting) and help to deliver life skills to enthusiastic young people.
