The Primary Use of Your Awning It is important to be clear about what your awning will be used for. Ideal applications include: 

Shade for outdoor dining or seating areas 

Sun protection for outdoor play 

Shade for time-out areas to relax and enjoy the fresh air 

Temporary cover for smokers on sunny days 

Creating shade above internal windows 

Creating an attractive front to your building

Awnings are designed to provide shade from the sun; they can be used in very light rain showers but should be closed in poor weather conditions once dried.

If you are looking for an all-weather shade and shelter solution, or would like an area to be permanently covered, a canopy would be more suited to your needs. Our Coniston canopy is a cost effective wall mounted structure, similar to an awning, yet it offers permanent cover from all weather conditions including rain, sun and snow.

If however, your main requirements are to create protection from the sun and cool the inside of your building, then an awning would be the most suitable and cost effective option for you.

Over the next few pages we will go through a selection of our previous customers and how they use their awnings. This may help you to identify whether an awning is the ideal solution for your needs.
