Joan and John Rowley Joan and John live in Allentown. Joan was a special education teacher in New Jersey and now volunteers at Lehigh Valley Hospital and the Allentown Art Museum. She enjoys singing in the choir and doing mission work along with gardening, reading, and playing bridge. Dr. John Rowley worked in Livingston, NJ, as a school principal and on the board of an international education organization. He also served on several local boards, including library, recreation, and business, as well as serving on the town council and as mayor. John and Joan were members of the Livingston Presbyterian Church for 36 years, where both served on Session for several years. Te Rowleys have three grown children and four grandchildren and hope to soon welcome a great-grandchild. Our congregation’s thoughtfulness has been greatly appreciated, especially during Joan’s recent hospitalization and rehabilitation.

If you’d like to join FPCA or simply find out more about our— and your—ministry, the process is simple and open to all.

Indicate you’re interested in exploring membership by completing a Connection Card at a worship service or contacting the church office. Cards are available in the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. One-morning classes are scheduled for Saturdays, February 4 (snow date February 11) and May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Classes and materials cover our church and denomination, allow you to get to know other participants, help you understand your gifts, and make connections to the life of our church.

There’s no obligation to join. Those who proceed with membership complete a form, submit a short biography, and attend a Session meeting to meet elders and have your membership approved.

Finally, you’re introduced to the congregation at a worship service on a particular date, and that week’s bulletin will include your bio so other members can welcome you.

For more information, contact the office at 610-395-3781 or office@fpcallentown.org.
