he Internet of Things (IoT) has become ever more common at home, on the road


and at work in recent years, with the widespread benefits that come when our real-world devices communicate with each other and with us. It has been developing into a focal point at Andritz for somewhat longer. There is one solution in particular, which has a story behind it: A decade ago, an automation employee had an idea and approached the internal IT department to find the best system for it. The resulting product, developed from scratch within the company, is Optimization of Process Performance (OPP). Today, there is a whole team dedicated to OPP and developing it permanently with customers. This has meant that more and more features are being integrated, yielding greater flexibility and more powerful performance.

What does OPP do? OPP analyses the data available in a plant, along with machines and historical know-how and provides output in the form of business intelligence, data analytics,


quality management, augmented reality, knowledge management or process information management. These outcomes are used to optimize machinery and plants, resulting in increased


efficiency in process and control engineering, mill balance, smart control and production management. In addition, last but not least, it transforms the digital intelligence in a way that
