at Vision, Olympia London, from 7-8 June. Aurubis offers dedicated expertise in helping architects to realise their designs in copper with the added strengths of a major international group. As the world’s leading integrated copper group

and largest copper recycler, Aurubis is redefining the material for contemporary architecture with the ongoing development of its ‘Nordic’ products providing straightaway surfaces that otherwise take years to develop in the atmosphere – particularly for facades. The processes involved are generally similar to those taking place naturally over time in the environment, utilising copper mineral compounds, not alien chemical processes. Essentially, they bring forward environmental

changes without taking away the integrity of copper as a natural, living material. All these surfaces form an integral part of the copper and are not coatings or paint. The material is easily bent and formed, and there are no limitations on the

length of copper sheet or strip because whole coils are treated on the production line, not just limited size sheets. Nordic Brown pre-oxidised copper offers lighter

or darker shades of brown, determined by the thickness of the oxide layer. Then, Nordic Blue and Nordic Green ranges enable designers to deter- mine both the colour and intensity of patina with ‘living’ surfaces. As well as solid green, blue and turquoise patina colour, other intensities can be created revealing some of the dark oxidised back- ground material. Aurubis’ experts can also work with architects to develop specific levels of patina- tion to meet design requirements or to match his- torically patinated copper. Of course, copper alloys have also been used

throughout history and Nordic Bronze and Nordic Brass (which can also be pre-weathered) are used for architectural applications. In addition, an innovative alloy of copper with aluminium and zinc – Nordic Royal – gives a rich golden through-colour retained over time, simply developing a protective matt finish without any

green or blue patination. For more information on Aurubis products email: g.bell@aurubis.com or visit the website.

SuDS latest at Vision London I

nterpave will be hosting a presentation by SuDS guru Bob Bray at Vision, London Olympia, exploring innovative applications of

permeable paving to optimise costs and land use for sustainable drainage, while offering imaginative designers new opportunities with water in the landscape. Bob Bray’s presentation The role of permeable

paving in SuDS – an urban landscape with water is at 11.00 on Tuesday 7 June in the Product & CPD Theatre. Bob Bray is founder of leading SuDS project designers Robert Bray Associates and has written numerous local authority guidance documents and articles, and regularly lectures on the subject. He will be reviewing the latest thinking on

Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) in urban design, now that SuDS are a planning requirement. In particular, innovative approaches to the use of concrete block permeable paving as an integrated, multi-functional SuDS technique will be discussed, including demonstrable water storage

using flow controls, minimising the need for addi- tional storage features. The amenity and biodiversity possibilities of a gradual supply of clean water in the landscape for urban design will also be explored. Visitors and journalists can also ‘meet the

expert’ at Interpave’s Stand 104 where Bob Bray will be available from 11.30 to 13.00. Interpave’s stand at Vision will celebrate the transformative power of inspired hard landscape in our cities. It focuses on opportunities for new uses of water in

urban design, presented by government require- ments for SuDS on developments and enabled by recent innovations with concrete block permeable paving. It will also showcase contemporary hard landscape designs with all types of precast concrete paving and kerbs, meeting the widest sustainability criteria. Vision is the event for architects, specifiers,

clients and suppliers. The event focuses on new and innovative building products and materials and provides ideas and solutions for new and inventive ways to achieve better building design solutions and comply with changing legislation. With hundreds of exhibitors, 160 speakers and 5000 visitors, Vision is the must-attend event of 2016 for the architecture, design and construction industries. Entry and access to all seminars is free of charge when you register in advance at: www.visionlondon.com/register. Join Interpave at Stand 104 at Vision to find out
