Welcome to the Cambridge & District Humane Society

Established in 1955, The Cambridge and District Humane Society (CDHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and providing shelter and comfort to the animals in need in our community. We provide the public with a wide range of animal support services. The CDHS is supported by the generosity of the community it serves.

The CDHS is an OSPCA affiliate that cares for homeless dogs, cats and other animals in need of temporary shelter. It looks for suitable new homes and provides education to the community on how to care for the newly adopted pet. We respond to and investigate allegations of cruelty to and neglect of animals.

The CDHS does not receive any funds from the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).

Our Mission Statement

The CDHS promotes and ensures the health, safety and humane treatment of animals through public education.

We Believe:

• • • • •

Animals are a natural part of our environment. No animal should suffer.

All animals deserve our respect and compassion. All animals should have appropriate shelter/protection. Animal ownership is a privilege.
