If One Is Good... Then Two Is Better. SHARING OUR BOUNTY

DINING OUT FOR LIFE Ten years and counting... Baby, if food is your game, then this is the event for you! Designed as a way to feature and pack some of San Diego’s hottest eateries,

bars and local hangouts, Dining Out For Life, whose motto is “Dine Out, Fight AIDS,” has become one of the premier fundraising events in the region. It’s the perfect way to stuff your face, while at the same time offering much needed monetary support for the many vital programs that The San Diego LGBT Center offers. “Dining Out For Life has enjoyed such tremendous community support from the very beginning,” said Dr. Delores A. Jacobs, chief executive officer of The Center. “Without the generosity of so many San Diegans, we wouldn’t have reached this milestone.” Part of a multi-city event, Dining Out For Life includes more than 3,000 participating restaurants in nearly 60 cities across North America. Celebrity sponsor, Ted Allen, host of Food Network’sChopped, offered this about the larger event, “I love (working with Dining Out For Life) because it’s just such a cool, very low overhead, operation that raises more than $4 million for American HIV and AIDS service organizations in a single day…It also helps restaurants and chefs get new people coming in to try what they’re doing. It just seems like such a win-win-win for everybody.” Over 100 participating businesses have generously agreed to donate 25 percent or more of their food and liquor sales to support of HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs at The Center. Seriously, how easy do they make it to be a “giver?” All you need to do is simply dine out for breakfast, lunch and/ or dinner—preferably with famished family and friends—at participating establishments onThursday, April 28. Make that “night out” result in so much more than just pounds added or that killer hangover. I’m not suggesting, but if you’re going to indulge... Make it count! Number two on the list... Oh, my expanding waistline!

TASTE OF HILLCREST Keepin’ it real in the ‘hood... Another opportunity to indulge that discerning

palete and support all the flavors that include our local businesses! Hillcrest is a happening food playground (amongst the many, other types of grounds available to play in), with new restaurants hitting the scene regularly. On Saturday, April 16 from noon to 4 p.m., Taste of Hillcrest gives you the chance to experience both the old and new, in an event that encompasses one afternoon of utter indulgence. Over 35 restaurants specialize in international cuisines throughout the ‘hood to dine upon and, to add justification, you’ll burn calories as you stroll while you sample from place to place! We think this totally nullifies the grazing we all plan to do! Food from Italy, Mexico, the Middle East and Asia, as well as American

fare, with thirst-quenching options from local microbreweries and masterful cocktails mixed to perfection. Dine, drink, walk, repeat... Dine, drink, walk, repeat... Dine, drink, walk, repeat... Have that rhythm down, now? Oh, and don’t forget to leave room for the bountiful desserts, delightful treats that are sweeter than those honeyed, young waiters you’ll be all a’buzz over. Do what comes naturally and one that we all do best. Eat your way through the ‘hood... And lose the guilt (nod, nod, wink, wink) as you get that cardio in, too! Pre sale tickets are $30 and the day of, they go up to $35. They sell out, so get them fast!
