To this end, in just the last few years we’ve witnessed an expansion of fitness offerings driven by innovation and technology, including but not limited to specialized small group training, wearable fitness devices and data tracking. New facilities continue to be added, especially in the low-cost club market and franchising, and a wider selection of ancillary services (see “Ahh Massage” by Barb Gormley on page 24) is beginning to generate more non-dues revenues than it has in the past. The strength of our industry is a function of our connectedness through


information sharing and networking, education and training, best practices and industry advocacy. This publication, along with associations like Fitness Industry Canada, serve to build our sense of community and present a common voice. Let’s continue to work together for a healthier Canada and a prosperous industry:
