Bryony runs up £2,000
NINE-year-old Bryony
Dhanescha from Loose has been running to school every day to raise money for Macmillian Can- cer Support. But her efforts didn’t end there,
after she bet her brother she could run 100 miles in a month – the equivalent of four marathons. Bryony (pictured) is now hoping
to raise £2,500 for the charity, after her grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Mum Karen said: “My daughter
is full of schemes andwacky ideas. Before this, she was making origami and selling it to her friends. “I didn’t think she would last a
week running but I agreed that if she had run a decent amount in the first week I would set up a Just Giving page for her. It snowballed from there.” Bryony, a member of a triathlon club, ran to and from school every day as well as a daily three-mile run around Loose with her mum and dad. She finished her challenge at Leybourne Lakes with a 2.2-mile
run with her friends from the Ocean Lake Tri Club, celebrating with some well-deserved sweets and cakes afterwards. Bryony said: “My family didn't
think I would complete my chal- lenge but I've proved everyone wrong. I have raised over £2,000 which I never thought I could. This just proves that if you think you can, you can.” You can give on Bryony’s page at

Show tickets on sale
TICKETS for the Kent County Show have gone on sale six months ahead of the event. The idea to launch the tickets
in November was to capitalise on pre-Christmas sales, after visitors told organisers they would like to give tickets as gifts. TheKent County Agricultural Society, which organises the event, has also introduced a multi-day pass in response to visitor feedback that they would like to attend on more than one day.
Lucy Hegarty, show manager,
said: “We have had a number of companies enquire about pur- chasing advance Kent County Show tickets for staff.” Multi-day tickets can only be purchased in advance, priced £50, with a second costing £35. Adult day tickets are £19.80 in
advance and £22 on the day, children £5.40 in advance and £6 at the gate. The Kent County Show takes
place at the County Show- ground, Detling, from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10.
Easter debut for choral work
MAIDSTONE Choral Union is set- ting the scene for Easter with a special performance of Stainer’s “The Crucifixion”. The performance, on Saturday
March 12, at All Saints’ Church, Maidstone will be followed by a new work by composer David Pennant, Stainer’s great-grand- son.
“The Resurrection” sits com- fortably in the same format as
The Crucifixion, with choruses for a choir, soloists’ passages (for the risen Christ and for Mary Mag- dalen) and hymns for the audi- ence. It will be the first public per-
formance of this interesting com- position, which is 35 minutes long. The evening begins at 7.30pm
and tickets can be purchased at the door.
