MESSAGE FROM THE CEO Plan Now to Join ASCA in Dallas this May

A

SCA’s annual meeting this year will take place Thursday through Sunday, May 19–22, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. If you

haven’t registered already, I encourage you to make plans now to attend. Before we look at all that ASCA 2016 offers you, I want to point out, especially to

those who have attended ASCA’s annual meetings in the past, that our 2016 meeting will operate on a different schedule than our recent annual meetings. This year, all of the pre- meeting workshops will be offered Thursday morning and afternoon, followed by the first General Session of the meeting at 5:00 pm. Our Welcome Reception will follow in the exhibit hall at 6:30 pm. The meeting will conclude before noon on Sunday, making it easy for most of you to return home that afternoon. Please keep this schedule in mind when you make your travel arrangements. ASCA’s annual meetings have long been the largest meetings in the ASC commu- nity each year and feature the largest exhibit hall focused exclusively on products and services for ASCs. If you are looking for solutions, tools and ideas that can help you tackle the many challenges you face each day, there is no better place to find help than in this hall at ASCA 2016. ASCA 2016 will also give you multiple opportunities to network, exchange best prac- tices and discuss marketplace trends with your colleagues from across the country. Whether you are looking for the latest regulatory news and tips for compliance, business manage- ment insights or tools and information that you can use to keep your patients safe and your ASC secure, you will find them in the more than 60 sessions this program offers. As the opportunities and challenges that health care providers face continue to

evolve, you will benefit from the fountain of information that will be shared in sessions on topics like how to handle violence in the ASC setting, recovery care options for ASCs and reimbursement concerns that can seriously compromise your bottom line. This year’s pre-meeting workshops also offer special value. Alongside the certified administrator surgery center (CASC) review course and accreditation updates we tra- ditionally offer, this year we will include sessions on ■

the do’s and don’ts of social media; ■ ■

the role of infection prevention and control in a Quality Assessment and Perfor- mance Improvement (QAPI) program; and

current Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) physical environment and Life Safety Code requirements. While you are at the meeting, I hope you will be able to carve out some time to

enjoy the Gaylord Texan Resort. The hotel is full of authentic Texas-style hospitality and features eclectic shops, world-class restaurants and 4½ acres of indoor gardens and winding waterways. For more information about this year’s program and a short video that lets you
