February 26-27 Le Mozart Noir: the Untold Story


Dallas Bach Society, New York Baroque Dance Company, and Contemporary Ballet Dallas collaborate to present a special evening on the life and times of the illustrious Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint-George, son of a French planter of the lesser nobility in the Caribbean and a woman of African heritage. The story of the improba- ble rise of this amazing man to prominence as one of the most impor- tant violinists and conductors in 18th-century Paris will be told in this multimedia evening featuring a new ballet by Valerie Shelton Tabor of Contemporary Ballet Dallas, with period social dance by Baroque choreographer Catherine Turocy and Haitian dance expert Marcea Daiter. Prominent of course will be lots of intriguing music by the Chevalier, also one of the great swordsmen of the time, who conducted the premieres of Franz Josef Haydn’s Paris Symphonieswith his Orchestre de la Loge Olympique, which commissioned them, with the Chevalier contracting with Haydn on behalf of the Count d’Ogny. February 26-28 Classic Combination


Texas Ballet Theater features two company premieres and the genius of George Balanchine in one incredible performance accom- panied by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Harlad Lander’s ode to the dancer takes you from the barre to the bravos in the company’s premiere of Études. In the company premiere of The Concert (Or, The Perils of Everybody) Jerome Robbins depicts the foibles of human rela- tionships and sparks the imaginations of the dancers and audience alike. The great George Balanchine’smasterwork Allegro Brilliante captures the choreographer’s passionate blend of strength and preci- sion. February 27 Pilobolus Dance Theater


Making their third appearance at the Eisemann Center, Pilobolus is the present-day vehicle for over forty years’ worth of their most inven- tive and groundbreaking work. The company tours extensively in the United States, splitting time between performing and teaching, and creating new works in the Pilobolus Lab’s International Collaborators Project. Physically and intellectually, the company engages and inspires audiences around the world through perform- ance, education and creative consultation.
