BILLY JOEL TRIBUTE: Elio Pace

FOLLOWING on from his high- ly-acclaimed New York and Philadelphia Billy Joel ‘Origi- nal Touring Band’ concerts, Elio Pace delivers this sensa- tional tour celebrating the phenomenal music of

Billy Joel. Rolling into The Riverfront

CHRISTMAS may well be six months away but that hasn’t stopped the cast of The River- front’s Jack & The Beanstalk pantomime descending on Newport to launch this year’s festive offering! This year’s panto will see

Jack and his loyal companion, Daisy the Cow, leave the safe- ty of their farm and ascend a beanstalk, only to incur the wrath of a grumpy giant!

Showwill have you dancing

The iconic sound of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons is recreated in this “feel-good” concert. Four phenomenal singers and a fantastic live band—lots of fun and danc- ing in the aisles encouraged! Valli & The Four Seasons

had a string of hits begin- ning with the classic number one, Sherry in 1962. After a further run of hits, My Eyes Adored You hit number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 1975. This fantastic show fea- tures many hits from both sides of the Atlantic.

Tickets for the Blackwood Miners Institute show on June 13 are available from 01495 227206 or by visiting / your.caerphilly.gov.uk/bmi/ whatson/eventlist/4#Big Girls Don’t Cry

ROLE CALL: The cast of Newport Riverfront’s Jack & The Beanstalk Returning this year to play

the pantomime hero will be local star Gareth Tempest, with Riverfront favourite Elin Llwyd returning to play the show’s heroine, Jill. The hi- larious Richard Elis graces the stage once more in the role of Simple Simon, with Nerine Skinner donning the glitter and sparkle in the role of the Fairy. Simon Nock (playing Jack’s mum, Dame

Trott) and Patrick Marlowe (playing evil villain Flesh- creep) are performing in The Riverfront panto for the very first time. The annual family favourite

is once again produced by The Riverfront and Hiss and Boo, the team that produced last year’s hugely popular Dick Whittington pantomime. The performance, suitable for all ages, runs from Tuesday 1

December to Sunday 3 Janu- ary, and is now on sale, with tickets ranging in price from £6 to £18. More information is avail-

Arizona band on UK tour

ARIZONA-BASED band Andrew Jackson Jihad are currently tour- ing the UK Andy Howells recently put questions to the band.

Whereabouts are you from and how did the band form? We are a band from Phoenix,

Arizona. Ben and I started the band in 2004 when we both worked at a coffee shop. Some time in 2011 we jumped Deacon and Preston into the touring gang, and in 2014 we demoted our merch guy Mark to cello.

Tell us about your latest album... Our latest album is called

Christmas Island. It was our first time working with John Con- gleton. The album artwork is a painting we commissioned by Suzanne Falk one of Arizona’s greatest artists.

UK TOUR: Andrew Jackson Jihad

was either playing for a sold out crowd at The Metro in Chicago two months ago or playing solo to a small room of excitable Nor- wegians last night.

What else have you got planned this year? After this tour we’re playing

some festivals in the U.S. and then heading to Australia in Sep- tember with the Smith Street Band and the Sidekicks. After

that I think we’ll make the next album.

Where can people hear your music? In the hearts of those who know

love and terror, Spotify, iTunes, Tidal (maybe?), bandcamp, you- tube. Thanks for the interview!
