Company among best to work for


MELINHomes has been named as one of The Sunday Times top 100 Best Not-for-Profit Companies to work for in an awards ceremony in London this week.


Coming in at 77 , the housing association based in Pontypool entered for the first time this year. All staff were surveyed and asked about areas of their work such as wellbeing and personal growth. Organisationswho made the list were given their ranking based solely on staff feedback. Following the survey Melin was awarded the Best Companies one-star accredita- tion,which demonstrates there is ‘very good’ engagement with staff throughout the company. Chief executive Mark Gardner


said: “This is recognition of the great culture I see every day here at Melin. Our staff come to work tomake a difference and as a leadership team we all know that this iswhat helps us to pro- vide excellent customer service. I’m sure that every member of staff is as proud as Iamthat Melin is included in this list, particularly coming in so high in our first year entering.”

AJUNIOR football team in Newport has netted sponsorship from Taylor Wimpey SouthWales – for the fourth year in a row. Cromwell YouthAFCU13Ateam,


which plays at Lysaght Park, just downthe road from Taylor Wimpey’s Lysaght Village develop- ment in Newport, has received funding for an additional seven kits this year from the leading house- builder. The team previously bene- fited from new kit as U10s, U11s and U12s, and their coach Darren Little says the sponsorship deal has made an incredible difference to the jun- ior team. MrLittle,who’s also the vice-chairmanof the club, said: “It takes a weight off our minds that Taylor Wimpey are helping us again with purchasing new kits. Last year we only had 13 players in the under 12s team – nowthey’re the under 13s and seven new play- ers have joined, so this has helped us no end. “With a sponsorship like this, we
