n Thursday, 6th November 2014, some three hundred
and fifty-five brethren were awarded and invested with London Grand Rank and a further nine awarded London Rank at the annual London Grand Rank/London Rank Investiture at Freemasons’ Hall. The meeting was split into two sessions with a luncheon held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in between. Although Metropolitan Grand Lodge was inaugurated in 2003, the concept of London Grand Rank and London Rank date back much further. In fact, it is London Rank which is the older with the first appointments made in 1908, before being renamed London Grand Rank in 1939 and the creation of Senior London Grand Rank in 1979. In

1998, London Rank was re- adopted as a way of recognising meritorious service of masons who had not yet been Masters of a lodge. Over one thousand one hundred brethren attended the morning meeting and a thousand attended the afternoon session, both of which were presided over by the Metropolitan Grand Master. He congratulated all of the brethren on their achievements and reminded them that as we approach the Tercentenary of the foundation of the Premier Grand Lodge in 1717, London masons will have a big part to play in the forthcoming celebrations.' arena would like to offer
