Dear F

ather Christmas...

If you are the parent of a child in primary school you probably know far too much about Minecraft. Both boys and girls are seemingly obsessed with this game in which you construct virtual worlds. If you have managed to escape any mention of Minecraft so far then be prepared - it will probably feature on your child’s Christmas list this year. The good news is that there are versions of Minecraft that you can get for free, however the latest versions do cost money to download. There is also considerable Minecraft merchandise for sale including books, annuals, magazines,

clothing and toys (including a special Lego set).

Lego is always popular at this time of year and parents can expect even more requests for this traditional toy following on the success of The Lego Movie which came out in cinemas earlier this year. Like Minecraft, Lego has always

been popular with both sexes and they have a range of builds that appeal to children of all ages including Star Wars, DC Super Heroes and Chima. Lego can be expensive but Lego Minifi gures (a vast array of characters from Batman to anonymous policemen) are inexpensive and make great stocking fi llers. Loom bands, were the thing during the summer. Although some of the hype around them has died down they are still very popular (with both sexes) and do make a great stocking fi ller. They are also a great stand-by gift for that child who unexpectedly gives your child a present.

Frozen was one of the most popular movies last year – if you have a child between the ages of 5 and 11 the chances are you know all the words to ‘Let It Go’. Prepare to hear lots of it again over the festive season as Anna and Elsa, the sisters in Frozen are still riding high in the popularity charts. As with most successful fi lm ventures
