September 2014 Around Hampton Roads enhancement of infrastructure in the City.

The interest rate on the refinanced loans was lowered from 4.84% to 3.27% which generates approximately $9.9 million in savings over the life of the loans or an average of $400,000 in savings per year. Most of the savings are related to the Water/Sewer Utility Fund.

The Public Utility New Money planned estimate assumed a 5.5% interest rate and the actual interest rate, including all cost of issuance, was 3.38%. This result will translate into annual payments that are $300,000 less per year than what was estimated. This new money will assist in a variety of utility projects including improving current system needs and addressing regulatory requirements.

Bank of America/Merrill Lynch also won the City’s 2013 competitive sale and were the Senior Manager of the City’s negotiated 2012 Bonds.
